The research programme Resiliency, Mental Health and Social Participation among Refugees (RMSR) is a six-year research programme at RKH that aims to strengthen the scientific knowledge base on health and social conditions among people who have fled war and persecution.

RMSR is mainly based at the Swedish Red Cross University and is done in close collaboration with Karolinska Institutet.

RMSR focuses on conditions that promote mental health, social participation and resilience among those forced to flee their homes due to war, violence and persecution.

Due to exposure to harsh living conditions and adverse events and losses, the vulnerability of refugee populations increases. Therefore, there is a great need to understand the remarkable strength, adaptation and growth in resettlement that refugees have always shown.

RMSR includes robust and comprehensive scientific methods for broadening and deepening knowledge about risk and protection factors in refugees’ lives during resettlement.
