We are looking for LGBTQ+ forced migrants who want to plan and develop an intervention togeher with us!

We strongly believe that researchers need to work together with persons from the community. Thus, we want to enlist the help of people with a personal background of being a forced migrant and who identify as having a diverse gender identity, gender expression, and/or sexual orientation. For example, those identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, non-binary, or any other way that is not heterosexual and cisgender (LGBTQ+).

We will develop an intervention offering psychosocial support for forced migrants identifying as LGBTQ+. The intervention will contain peer support, in this case meaning between migrants who share similar situations, backgrounds, and/or identities.

In this research project, we want to collaborate with representatives who have this background. We offer contributors salaries for their work. Contributors will be offered payment depending on the extent of their contribution.

How are we collaborating?

We will develop an intervention offering psychosocial support for forced migrants identifying as LGBTQ+. The intervention will contain peer support, in this case meaning between migrants who share similar situations, backgrounds, and/or identities.

During the spring of 2023, we will arrange a series of workshops in which we collaborate with the contributors. The workshops will take place on set dates and the length of each workshop will be approximately five hours, including coffee breaks. We will offer coffee and refreshments during the workshops.

During the workshops, we will have different activities that will inform us about the preferences and needs among the population. Each workshop has its own topic and activitiy.

What is expected of contributors?

The contributors are not required or expected to share their personal stories. Contributors are free to decide how many and which workshops they want or can attend. They receive payment for each workshop that they attend (SEK 1 500 for each fully attended workshop). There are no formal requirements in regard to previous education or work experience. All who identify as LGBTQ+ and have arrived to Sweden as refugee - based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression - are welcome to contact us and express an interest to contribute.

Who are leading the workshops?

The workshops will be led by researchers and assistants who are experienced in supporting forced migrants identifying as LGBTQ+. We are genuinely interested in knowing how to conduct relevant and applicable research that correspond with the needs experienced among LGBTQ+ forced migrants.

We are a diverse team consisting of health professionals, researchers, persons identifying as LGBTQ+, and forced migrants.
