Om Susanne Georgsson
År 2005 disputerade Susanne Georgsson vid Karolinska Institutet med avhandlingen “Women's experiences of fetal screening for Down's syndrome by means of an early ultrasound examination”. Sedan dess har hennes huvudsakliga forskningsområde varit inom fosterdiagnostik, om kvinnors upplevelser av sådana undersökningar, samt om information och riskinformation. Hon är också involverad i andra projekt kring kvinnors hälsa, exempelvis om upplevelser av att föda barn i vatten, långvarig smärta efter graviditet och förlossning, webbinformation samt minskade fosterrörelser. Hon har förutom vetenskapliga artiklar författat och varit redaktör till läroböcker och lärobokskapitel.
Sedan 2006 har Susanne Georgsson varit verksam inom högskolesektorn i ett flertal roller med lång erfarenhet av undervisning och av olika uppdrag. Närmast innan rektorstjänsten vid Röda Korsets Högskola var hon prefekt vid den Hälsovetenskapliga institutionen vid Sophiahemmet Högskola där hon 2014 även startade Barnmorskeprogrammet.
Förtroendeuppdrag
Susanne Georgsson är ledamot i styrelsen för SWEAH, den nationella forskarskolan om åldrande och hälsa liksom i Allmänna BB:s minnesfonds styrelse. Hon är också med i den medicinska expertgruppen i 1,6 miljonerklubben, en ideell kvinnohälsoorganisation som arbetar för kvinnors hälsa.
